Sadness
By Rebekah Perkins
The
disappointed kind of sadness,
When
you've done wrong and feel unworthy of forgiveness,
When
you've said the wrong words and hurt friends,
The
kind of hurt that goes deep, and never truly ends.
You
may cry and feel so badly,
But
you can't take it back, so you'll sit sadly,
Musing
over why you ever even speak,
When
you try to do good, but you can't you're so weak.
Your
words of thoughtlessness are never forgotten,
Though
maybe they'll settle at the bottom,
They'll
never go away from the depths of their soul,
And
again you realize saying these things is not your roll.
You
see the hurt locked into their eyes,
There
from the moment you said the words and they looked in surprise,
You
will see it as a reminder of wrong,
And
you'll wish that hurt did not to you belong.
You
know they'll be happy again,
Maybe
soon, but you don't know when,
They
may give forgiveness, but can you forgive your deeds?
The
sadness will be there, planted by your own seeds.
You've
wounded yourself and those beloved,
When
you your words thoughtlessly on them shoved,
You
are the one who hurt, and you are to be shamed,
All
this on you is, and should be, blamed.
You've
disappointed those close to you,
Yourself
included in those few,
You
know this will pass, but never go away,
The
wound will scar, a reminder that will stay.
You've broken their trust,
And
bear the consequences you must,
Try
to stand up and use supports that are provided,
Bind
up your heart, that has been so rudely by your own work divided.
This is great, powerful poetry.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cody :-) The best poetry always comes out of experiances...good or bad.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I doubt know much about poetry but I know what I like. I like your poetry but my favorite is still Captain, My Captain. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, "O Captian My Captian" by Walt Whitman is super duper amazing! Lol I don't pretend (or dream of) to be competing with that!
ReplyDeleteHis was based on history. Yours is on experiance. You just need more people to read it :) use it to run for governor at teenpact. I will be the campaign manager :)
ReplyDeleteThis poem? Not sure how it would help me win... xD. Lol, Adam Garman volunteered to be my campieng manager if I ran for Senator ;-). Now which should I run for? :-P
